After the United States authorises tactical nuclear warfare to quell the Chinese invasion of South Vietnam, Russian and East German forces invade West Berlin and NATO is drawn into nuclear conflict. Powerful pseudo-documentary drama which depicts the effects of a nuclear bomb attack on Great Britain. The BBC stated it was too horrifying for broadcast and withdrew it from transmission. It won the 1967 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Narrated by Michael Aspel and Peter Graham. The majority of the cast were non-actors. Costume design by Vanessa Clarke.
